Spot the Lie

One of the ideas for our next topic wanted to know more about my law school years. I am ready for a fun topic today and this gave me an idea. I have stated before that I am a very honest person by nature. It is really hard for me even to exaggerate. But one game I love to play is two truths and a lie. It is a game where you tell two true things about yourself and make up one lie and people try to guess which is the lie.

I thought it might be fun to play a grander version of this and let you all get to know some other things about me that most probably don't know. I will throw three lies into my list of random facts about me. Your challenge is to spot the lies. I will be sending a fabulous prize to three of the people who can guess all three lies correctly. You have until Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. Pacific Standard Time. I will choose the three winners randomly from those who correctly spot all three lies. Deal? I will announce the winning screen names and post their comment the next day and they can then email me their mailing addresses. Oh and my husband, parents, and siblings are exempt. In laws can play but can't ask any of my siblings for help.

I don't normally do these types of posts that are so common to blogging, but I thought it might be a fun way to let you all know a little more about the lesser know things about me.
A photo of me taken Sunday in my new apron made for me by Marylin (thanks Marylin) with two of my chefs helping make the chocolate chip pancakes.

****** EDITED AT 2:40 PM TUESDAY *********
Okay seeing how this is harder than I imagined. I will give the prize to anyone who can get two of the lies. And I will give you a hint. Also you can vote again if you have already voted, since I am giving a hint now.

One of the lies has been guessed lots. It is one of the most popular guesses. One of the lies has only been guessed once so far. And one of the lies hasn't been guessed by anyone yet. The last comment when I wrote this was my Husbands which was the best guess ever. He did get all three lies but thought there were more than three. I had to verify a couple of the truths for him.

I say the lies are #36, #25 and #13. Totally random guesses but the ones I think could be lies could actually be truths and you put them in to trick us. This is fun. Maybe I'll try it on my blog. Thanks for your posts. I love reading about you and your cute little family. Also thanks for sharing your testimony-it's built mine when I needed it.

I'm thinking maybe #3, #35 and #47 aren't so true. I'm going to do this on my blog as well ... fun, fun!

I'm guessing 3, 27 & 33. I'd love to hear the explanation behind 35 - or maybe that just explains 14 & 15!!

Great idea. Loved reading through the list.

this is fun--I believe it all!! but I chose 10, 15, 22

I am going to have to do this someday on my blog :)

Kristine said...

I'm going with...15, 47 and 50.
I figured out quite a few from reading your blog over the past 10 months or so. Then I made a best guess.

2. Professional opera seems so major- majorly impossible for someone so tiny : ) I am thinking of Pavarotti and you don't fit the bill.
15. Not a chance I would buy this... you seem to have such sound, precise judgement.
29. These are such yummy preggo foods! YUM!

Stephanie said...

I'm going with 1, 2, and 3.

GDR said...

I don't think you Crochet, I don't think you sang Opera, and I don't think you like to shop.

Mindy said...

Wow ... I cannot even fathom which ones are the lies ... So, I will just tell you: I adore that apron! If I was domestic at all, I would want to be domestic in THAT apron! :)

Shanan said...

Gosh, I thought I knew you better! ;)

29, 31 and 36 are not true.

TJ said...

I dont have a clue, esp since I am just a casual observer but I am interested in hearing about Harry Reid. I have a hard time with him since he is LDS (as am I) and his seemingly radical far left agenda. Maybe this could be a a post from you someday.

kathryn_m said...

Gee, this wasn't easy.

I am suspect of #15, #25 and #42. But I am torn between #25 and #17.

I'll decide between #25 & #17 by days' end.

I got reconnected with 2 1st cousins via FaceBook last month. We all went to different universities so even though we are close in age, we had lost touch.

We played a similiar game - 25 pieces of trivia -- as a way to get to know each other again. It was a great exercise but had no lies to flesh out.

Thnx Stephanie.

love n' hugs,
kathrynM

Really cute apron!

As a casual reader of your blog, I'm not even going to try, as I cannot spot a lie unless I am speaking face to face with a person. I do have a feeling there are a lot of things on your list that you have done, but most will think you have not. The line about only ever having one cavity, that is actually true for me, and not many people can say that!

Heather & Greg said...

My guess is #2, #15, And #29.

I am guessing 3, 15, and 40.

i can't believe i missed 10 the first time....

you didn't say how many times we could enter.... :)

Jennie said...

I have no idea. You are so fabulous I think all of the amazing facts are probably true. I am going to guess #2 the opera, #10 shopping, and #15 100 guys. Wish me luck!

Angie said...

I am about 100% sure I will not get even 1 of these right...but here goes:

#15: Does anyone REALLY know EXACTLY how many dates they went on before they were married?
#17: Just because the thought of it freaks me out a little:)

I was torn between #36 and #10. For some reason I seem to think I remember you mentioning something about hating to do dishes...but I could be confusing you with someone else, so....

#10 it is: you don't seem the "love to shop" type, but more the "love to find a good deal" type (and those are two TOTALLY different things;)

I'm quite sure I bombed!

npage79 said...

My guess is #10 #17 and #40

kathryn_m said...

After mulling them over again - and again - I stand by #15, #35 & #42.

Kind of giving us long odds, eh Steph? Does Jon have any actuary skills? What are the odds of anyone person - who doesn't know you fairly good -- picking out all three fibbies?

OH NO! The word verification is wental -- now I am thinking that you had more than one cavity! LOL

Davis family said...

I think numbers 3, 10, and 21.
I can't wait to know which ones really are lies. You have already led an amazing life! WOW.

Jonathan Waite said...

I'd like to add another:
51) Stephanie saw Harry Reid and Monica Lewinsky together at a performance of Les Miserables that she was going to perform in (she played the Japanese/Mexican Mafiosa lost in the Pyrenees), only to go home to find a "D" on her Law school report card.

I'm betting no one gets even two right (so far, so good) -- this is way too difficult steph.

First of all, I wanted to say how much I enjoy your posts. I just found your site and I love it. I spent Saturday catching up on all the older posts. Your story and testimony lifts my heart. In one morning, I found very wise advice for challenges we are facing. Thank you!

Next, the guessing part,36,10 and 15.

Hilary said...

So I'm spending way too much time trying to decide/decipher with the hints that you gave. I'm debating between 10 & 15, and then 9, 18, 23, 33, 38, & 46. These are the ones that I have narrowed it down to at this point. I'll come back with a real decision later. by the way if Jon got them all what about 10 & 15, I can't figure them out in his comment, and if his comment doesn't reflect his choices then I may need to be starting all over in my calculating.

Rena said...

This is a real fun idea. I will say #2, 15, and 43. I am probably way off but I didn't want to cheat and take the hints or look at other peoples comments.

Heywood Clan said...

This was fun! I'm going to guess 15, 16, and 17.

Jonathan Waite said...

Hilary, My comment in no way shows my guesses -- i was just trying to be stupid (i'm pretty good at that).

Diana...aka...MeMe said...

Wow Stephanie...what an interesting life you have led so far! I want to guess your 3 lies. I say #15, #34 and #47. Very fun idea!

kathryn_m said...

with the hint:

15 20 & 42

Knowing the answers will be a prize for everyone!!

#23 is technically a lie as Pyrennes is mis-spelled. :-)

ok, i am going to say 10, 7 and 22 (was that the cavities one?)

Yeah, this was hard! I have my scratch paper here with lots of numbers circled then crossed out then circled then crossed out.

#2 - wouldn't I know this story?
#10 - if I recall, you don't like doing this.
#36 - I have never met anyone who can say these are their "favorite" chores.

What were you doing in a bar every weekend? Eating chicken fingers?

All the kid names and friends and what not were really hard. I couldn't guess on any of those.

Okay, Steph, I'm in. Here's my guesses: #2 opera... I remember when you posted Camille's lullaby you mentioned something about your singing voice, so that is my first guess. Second guess: shopping- I am not sure about this one; you don't seem to be a shopper. Last guess: #3 Play piano- I thought Jon was the piano player in the house. So, there it is for me! Fun game- what an incredible and blessed life you have had!

Katie Jo said...

Alright... this took me a while. HAHA I think 11, 15, and 41.

Chelsea said...

uuummm....2, 10, and 11. total guess. what i really wanted to say that if those 3 chores are your favorite, then we need to help each other out because i hate those 3 chores with a passion. give me a vacuum and let me make a bed any day!

Angie said...

2,8, and 18. Final answer.

Chelsea said...

okay, wait. i changed my mind. i pick 10, 11, and 15. final answer. *cringe*

#2, -Wanting is not having
#10-Maybe once upon a time and maybe later but not now &
#21-With all the crying you have done over the past year, I haven't seen a single picture of you in glasses and plus you live in vegas, the dust would be torture, there would be more proof if it were true.

Wow, fun game...I think that 15 is actually true because I remember you keeping track and you were really close....and some are easy after having been a roommate, but still there are so many tricky ones...so my guesses are 10, 28 and 35!

Nannette said...

On another note, we love the name Noble... we seriously considered it for our three boys. Joe was named after Joseph Bates Noble and so we thought it would be fun to use the name Noble...and then we could call him Nobe for short (which I think is really cute). Good job on the name!
